Governance and Guidelines
The International Society for Seed Science was inaugurated on January 28, 1999, at the Sixth International Workshop on Seeds in Merida, Mexico. Its registration as a Charity with its official address in England was accepted in June 2000.
The ISSS is governed by an Executive Committee consisting of Elected and Appointed Trustees. The President, President-elect, Secretary, Treasurer, and one Trustee are elected by the membership, while up to four additional Trustees are appointed by the President. The Executive Committee is assisted by Regional Representatives from each of the geographical regions as determined by the Executive Committee, and by one Representative of Affiliated Organisations and one Corporate Representative. The Executive Committee acts as Trustees on behalf of the Society to the Charities Commission of England and Wales.
